Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is the ability of a device or system to operate in its electromagnetic environment and does not produce unacceptable electromagnetic interference to any device in its environment. EMC includes two requirements: on the one hand refers to the equipment during normal operation of the environment generated by electromagnetic interference can not exceed a certain limit (EMI); the other hand refers to the presence of equipment in the presence of electromagnetic interference with A degree of immunity, i.e., electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS).

In addition to incandescent lamps (including incandescent bulbs, including halogen lamps) and not equipped with dimming devices or electronic switches, no EMC test, the other lamps are required for EMC testing, other non-electronic devices can be exempted from the lamps EMS test.

Lamps and lighting fixtures in the United States need to comply with FCC part18 requirements, the need to complete the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) certification.
